The Malviya Nagar suburban area in Indore is densely populated and has around 45 communities. In which approximately 60 thousand people live, most of who are below the poverty line. Villagers from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra who have migrated in search for employment mostly inhabit it.
The people are predominantly illiterate, unskilled, and financially underprivileged. They are primarily employable only on daily wage basis. The men and women of the community usually work as laborers or housemaids.
Surviving in the city is riddled with many hardships for them. In a bid to provide the family with the bare necessities for survival the parents are mostly unavailable through the majority of the day. This leaves the elder children to take care of their younger siblings. The girls are the most affected. Education as a whole takes a back stage and is often completely neglected.
The hardship faced by them continues on into their adult lives. With almost no education and minimal employable skills it becomes extremely hard for them to fulfill the multiple responsibilities of being the caretaker and the provider of the family. It becomes important to address these issues that tie them in an unending vicious downward spiral of exploitation
Navyug Aarambh Education and Social Welfare Society was started in 2009 and was then known as Participative Development Initiative, India. It is a non-government organization that has been working in the field of education and holistic development of children and women empowerment for the underprivileged population of the Malviya Nagar suburban area.
Working primarily for the educational development of the children in the community, we manage an educational institution named Future Foundation School. Affiliated with the Madhya Pradesh Educational Department the school operates as a Hindi medium establishment running up to the 8th standard. The school envisions the provision of an excellent education to each of its children, which incorporates not only academic knowledge but also arts and life skills. We work closely with dropouts and children who have never been to school.
